OVERSEAS CHAMPIONSHIP REWARDS FOR CIK STARS OF KARTING WINNERS

Organisers of the CIK Stars of Karting Series are pleased to confirm the rewards for the top three finishers in this year's series with the winner in each of the Pro categories to compete in marquee overseas events.

The announcement comes on the eve of Hayden McBride heading to Germany next month courtesy of his victory in last year's championship.

For many years the World Cup/Asia Pacific Championship event at Suzuka in Japan has been a highlight for drivers from all across the world. CIK Stars of Karting Series organisers are proud to announce that they will be providing the opportunity for the Pro Light (KF1) Champion to compete at the 2011 event.

As a part of their series prize the winner will be provided with the chance to contest the event with one of the world's top karting teams.

At the halfway mark of the four-round series it is Cian Fothergill who is leading the way in the chase for the trip to Japan.

"It is definitely a great opportunity to race overseas, any trip to go overseas is a really good prize," said Fothergill.

"I'm sure that everyone in the field is working hard towards trying to win it, like I am, and to be able to race against the best guys from across the world would be a fantastic opportunity.

"There is still a lot of racing to go yet but I'll be sure to be putting in 110 percent for the rest of the year to make sure I'm there at the end."

Last year, the 13th Annual SuperNats event in Las Vegas, America attracted some of the world's most iconic drivers including seven-time World Formula 1 Champion Michael Schumacher, four-time World Karting Champion Davide Forè, two-time World Karting Champion Marco Adrigo and three-time World Cup KZ1 Champion Jonathan Thonon. In 2010, the CIK Stars of Karting Series Champion in Pro Gearbox (KZ2) will join the world's best at the event.

The winner of Australia's elite junior category, Pro Junior (KF3), in the CIK Stars of Karting Series will also be rewarded with the opportunity to compete overseas at either the Monaco Kart Cup or Asia Pacific Championships in Macau.

Like the winner in the Pro Light (KF1) category, the junior competitor will be linked with one of the world's top karting teams.

"It is a fantastic opportunity to be able to compete overseas against the world's best. Our competition level in Australia is very high and any of the juniors could race competitively on the world stage as shown recently by Jackson Delamont's win in New Zealand," said Lehane, who is currently leading the points in the Pro Junior (KF3) category.

"A big thanks to the organisers and sponsors of the series for arrange this prize."

In addition to the opportunities to compete overseas for the winners, the runner-up in each of the Pro categories will be rewarded with free race tyres for the 2011 CIK Stars of Karting Series and third place in the series will receive free entry for the 2011 series.
