DOUBLE VICTORY FOR RDD MOTORSPORTS IN NEW CASTLE

RDD Motorsports opens new national karting series with two victories and five top tens to lead the Mini Max category

Deerfield Beach, FL - RDD Motorsports of Deerfield Beach, Florida, the exclusive North American importer of the Kart Mini chassis, competed in the opening round of the new WSK North American series presented by Championship Karting International. The south Florida based team headed north to the mid-west and the state of Indiana where New Castle Motorsports Park played host to the nations best sprint kart racers. The RDD Motorsports squad would field drivers in two classes, Rotax Mini Max and Leopard Junior. Brothers Logan and Dalton Sargeant took to the Mini Max class while RDD Motorsports development driver Sebastian Ordonez ran in the Leopard Junior category. The field of competitors were handed some of the best weather to hit the US continent this spring. The entire RDD Motorsports team had an amazing weekend taking four podiums, including double feature wins by Dalton Sargeant.

"Dalton was really good this weekend. He is definitely on his game as this point in the season, " comments Andre Serra, RDD Motorsports Team Manager. "Both Logan and Sebastian ran well and also made it up on the podium. I am very pleased to have made the trip."

In Rotax Mini Max, Dalton quickly paced the North American field at the ultra quick New Castle facility. Dalton would go P2 in Saturday qualifying and follow that up with a win in the prefinal. Brother Logan would grab a top five in qualifying setting the fourth fastest time. In the prefinal Logan would fall back to ninth as he worked to learn the long and fast 1.2-mile layout. In the final, Dalton would use his pole position to grab an early lead and never look back, taking the win and setting fast lap of the race. Logan quickly charged forward to grab a top five at the stripe, crossing in fifth place.

On Sunday day two action, it was all Dalton, all day. The talented 12-year-old made a clean sweep of the racing action taking pole with fast time and then grabbing the prefinal win and setting fast time. Taking his second feature win of the weekend in the Sunday final, Dalton would also take another fast lap giving him and his RDD Kart Mini team, a clean sweep of three fast times and two race wins. Logan would run much better on day two as he quickly got up to speed on his first visit to New Castle. He would grab second in qualifying to share the front row with Dalton. A tough battle in the prefinal would see him cross in third, a finish he would repeat in the final to grab the final podium spot. With a dominate run on both days, Dalton would put his RDD Kart Mini at the top of the points chase and take the weekend title. For his effort, young Logan would sit in the fourth spot in the overall weekend point tally.

"We are very happy for Dalton. He ran two great days and really put it all together on Sunday," continues Serra. "The team needs to get Logan a bit better kart earlier so he can be at the front to battle for wins. He is still young and learning quickly."

In Leopard Junior action Sebastian Ordonez looked to make the switch from his Rotax power plant to the IAME TaG set-up. On Saturday, Ordonez improved quickly through out the day. In qualifying he would clock through in ninth and start the prefinal back inside row five. The talented Florida-based driver would improve to sixth on the prefinal and with a great drive in the final, crossed the double checkered flags in third to grab a place in the podium celebrations.

On Sunday, Ordonez would improve on Saturday's effort by grabbing the fourth spot, a position he would match in the prefinal. The racing action in the final was furious as the Junior drivers all looked to take point early on. Ordonez would run near the front cruising well inside the top five before getting shuffled back in the late stages. At the stripe Ordonez would cross in sixth for his second top ten finish of the weekend.

"Overall I am pretty happy with the weekend. The Leopard package is not something I run a lot so I need to adjust my style a bit, " comments 15-year-old Ordonez. "My Kart Mini chassis just kept getting faster all weekend. We will be fighting for wins at the next round."

Up next for RDD Motorsports, the team heads back to South Florida for opening round of the South Florida RMax Challenge on April 17 followed by the opening round of the Rotax Pan Am Challenge the following weekend in Houston.
