TAYLOR MIINCH PERFORMS WELL AT CKI FLORIDA CUP
"Senior rookie impresses"
February 2, 2010 -- Californian Taylor Miinch was back on track this weekend at the Championship Karting International Florida Cup presented by Supertune USA and DeFrancesco Racing at the Homestead Karting Complex in Southern Florida. The rookie senior pilot scored three top five results including a thrilling victory in the Leopard Senior class and a podium result in Rotax Senior.
In a stout field of Rotax competitors, Taylor Miinch would be at the pointy en of the field all weekend long as he battled with some of the countries best. Saturday would provide the Top Kart pilots best results as he stayed consistent throughout the day claiming the second position in each and every on track session. After qualifying in the second position and claiming the second spot in the heat race, Miinch would claim the bride's maid position in one of the best races of the weekend.
Miinch would have a little tougher day in the Rotax class on Sunday as he would only turn the seventh quickest time in qualifying. Looking to progress throughout the day, Miinch would claim the fourth position in the pre final and would be unable to advance forward in the main event as he would again cross the stripe in fourth.
The Leopard Senior class would be Miinch's second division of the weekend as he would battle wheel-to-wheel with IndyCar star Dan Wheldon. After taking the pole position for Saturday's festivities, Miinch would claim the pre final win as well as the main event victory. In post race action, Miinch would be docked one position for a start infraction placing him in the second spot.
Sunday's Leopard Senior class would see Miinch again claim the pole position as well as heat race win. Though he is only 15-years-old and he is one of Americans most accomplished karters, Miinch would have to skip the main event to travel back to California in time for Monday morning's schooling. The talented senior driver will be back for all three rounds of the series and will look to run just as strong as the first round.
