After having his senior shifter debut spoiled last fall at SKUSA SuperNationals, Ontario racer David Ostella is set to make his return from a broken shoulder this coming weekend at the Tenth Annual Florida Winter Tour. Ostella will line up in pslkarting.com Pro Shifter in Homestead, and reports he is feeling fit and ready to go.

"It's healed up pretty good," Ostella said of his shoulder injury prior to departing for Florida. "I just have to keep training and get some more strength into it." The rookie senior was off to a great start racing S1 in Vegas and after qualifying ninth he ran to a fifth and a third in heat race action. Very excited headed to the main event, a crash in the third heat of rotax senior sent him to hospital instead, a broken shoulder ending his season. While the ordeal could have been devastating, the veteran racer took it all in stride. "I was pumped with how Vegas was going," he said in recalling the opening stages of SuperNationals. "In the last heat I was catching the leaders, so I had the pace for the podium, but what can you do? That's racing." Just as he did four months ago, Ostella will once again be eyeing the top five, and would be thrilled to podium in his new debut event.

Still with Hamilton based Cameron Motorsports, the reigning WKA National JICA Champion will make another debut this weekend as he and longtime tuner/driver coach Mike Roth put a brand new Cameron/Maranello through its paces. The race shop continues to offer the CRG chassis line, and has introduced Maranello as well, Ostella being the first to have shifter power bolted to one. After a test day today and a practice day tomorrow, the winter tour begins with a double-race weekend, complete schedules going off both Saturday and Sunday.
