A WEEKEND TO REMEMBER FOR ELIOTT BACHELART
- Teenager beats Nascar star in charity go-kart event -

Indianapolis, Indiana -- Not very many people have the chance to race against a Nascar driver and even less have the honor to say they beat one, but Eliott Bachelart can. On August 2, 2006 the 14 year-old participated in a go-kart charity event called Race for Riley at New Castle Raceway Park and took the top honors beating Nascar Busch Series driver John Andretti. It was a day the teenager will always remember.

Bachelart qualified for the main event by taking one of the top-two spots in an elimination race, but had to start the race at the back of the 20-kart field. Despite his starting position, he was already half way up the pack after the first couple of corners. By the end of that first lap he was in third position and five laps later he had moved into the lead with John Andretti right behind him. The Busch driver tried to pass him a couple of times, but the high school student kept his cool, fought him off and won the race by three tenths of a second.

"This was an exceptional day, that I will remember all my life. It was just unbelievable. I didn't expect to win this at all, especially after starting nearly last. It was a little bit surreal for me when I got to the lead and looked back to see John Andretti behind me," said an exulted Bachelart. "I was doing some intense racing with him. On the last lap he tried to make a difficult pass on me and nearly took both of us out but I managed to keep control of the kart. Just racing against him was special, but beating him to the finish makes it even better. It was such a great day."
