A 65-year old race driver has died after a crash at Sonoma Raceway.
The unnamed gentleman was competing in a one-day Northern California Karters (NCK) event on the venue’s 2.385-mile 12-turn road course. The single-vehicle accident occurred during Race 2 for the Superkart IC/E (Intercontinental E) division.
The single-vehicle accident occurred when the kart spun and flipped at Turn 8.
An official statement from Sonoma Raceway revealed: “Life-saving efforts were provided by on-site ambulance and Fire/Safety crews at the track, and the driver was transported by ambulance to Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa, where he died as a result of his injuries.
“The racer’s family has been notified and we send our sincere condolences to his family, friends and fellow racers.”
