The racing surface at The Greenwood Valley Action Track, located 3 1/2 miles east of Millville just south of Route 254, was perfect for racing on Saturday night. Hundreds of gallons of water, and tons of tender loving care by the Crevelings, promoters at The Action Track, brought the surface to hard ceramic like perfection.
In 270cc Micro Sprint action Neil "The Wheel" Petock, Bloomsburg, won his first Feature event of the 2001 Season, holding the lead from the outside of row one to the checkered flag. Second across the line was pole sitter Colby Womer, Mt. Pleasant Mills, while Steve Lenig, Selinsgrove, was third. In the fourth place was another Selinsgrove resident, Jeff Furlong, fifth David Utt, Catawissa, and in sixth place was Jason Rice, New Tripoli. Rounding out the top ten were Scott Tate, Middleburg, in seventh, Shane Penny, and Berwick in eighth, Joel VanBuskirk, Selinsgrove, was ninth, and Brian Wawroski, Bloomsburg, finished tenth.
Colby Womer, Mt. Pleasant Mills, won the 250cc Sportsman Micro Sprint Feature, nursing a very sick engine the last several laps in The Greenwood Valley Action Track sponsored machine. In second spot was Jay Horvath, Allentown, while Rick Morris, Catawissa, placed third and Hoss Uhrin, Freeland, fourth. Fifth place was claimed by Jared Schall, Hackettstown, NJ, sixth was Chad Phillips, New Berlin, seventh was Kyle Rhoads, Sunbury, and in eighth place was Jeff Mann, Rockaway, NJ. In ninth and the final car running was Ken Hurr, Palmyra.
Todd Hoover, Selinsgrove, claimed his first victory in the Rookie Micro Sprint Feature, while Brayden Winters, Easton was second. A.J. Bast came in third, Eric Perchak, Hazelton, was fourth and the car of Jason Bargo was fifth. Sixth place went to Chad Thomas, New Berlin, seventh to Keith Barnes, eighth to Matt Bower, and ninth, and the final position to John Bowers.
In The Action tracks newest division, Slingshots, at The Action Track, the Slingshots, Denny Rinehimer, Bloomsburg in first, Paul Harig, Summit Station, was second and Cody Roth, Kunkletown, was third.
Also at The Action Track, Saturday night were the Keystone Midget Lights, formerly known as the Mini-Sprints. Rob Howell of Milton, Jeff Yordy from Millville, and Jeff Black, Sunbury, took the top three sports.
Bring friends and family to The Greenwood Valley Action Track next Saturday afternoon for more exciting dirt track racing; gates open at 2:00, warm-ups at 4:30, and racing into the night.
