May 6, 2000 In Victory Lane at Greenwood Valley By Than Mitchell
Consistently placing in the top five since the 2000 season began, Jeff Furlong finally broke the drought, finishing first against a tough field in the Micro Sprint Feature at the Greenwood Valley Action Track. Randy West, Boyertown, placed second after jousting with Blane Heimbach and Neil Petock, before Petock slipped back. Heimbach, from Selinsgrove, was the third across the line, Skeetz Hockenbrock, Paxinos, managed a fourth place showing while Petock, a two time winner in 2000, settled for fifth. Steve Lenig, also from Selinsgrove, was sixth, Brian Kishbaugh, Nescopeck, seventh and Eric Heydenreich, Bloomsburg, eighth. Colby Womer, Mt. Pleasant Mills, and Chris Smith, Bloomsburg, were the final two in the top ten.
The Rookie Micro Feature ended with Scott Tate, Middleburg, representing the Snyder County Posse and SAM racing, came home the winner. Milton's Joey Finan was second, Ross Perchak, Hazelton, was third, Shane Penny fourth and Brian Wawroski, Bloomsburg, was fifth. K.C. Smith, Reading, crossed the line in sixth place followed by Frank Venezia, Little Ferry, NJ, and Jim Schlieg, Bloomsburg, in seventh and eighth spots. Rounding out the top ten were Dave Williams and Denny Rhinehimer, Bloomsburg.
Gates open at 3 next Saturday at the Greenwood Valley Action Track located 3 1/2 miles east of Millville just off route 254. The Action Track offers something for everyone. Bring the family and plan to make it a weekly outing for the best dirt track racing around. See you at the Action Track.
