Path Valley announces Burris Kart program changes

Path Valley revises Karting weights and rewards.

Spring Run, PA_ When the Path Valley Speedway Park Burris Karting season opens April 12, riders will find minor changes to the weight rules and major changes to the rewards awaiting them.

To start, Two Wheel Promotions advises, each class points champion will receive at least a $200 points championship award at the end of the season. All of the regular classes will race for points each week and to be eligible for year end points, riders must race at least 75% of scheduled points races.

The Junior Sportsman I and II and Caged Rookie riders will receive weekly awards for the top five feature finishers, and all other classes receive a weekly 75% cash payback on a one to three ratio based on kart count per class. Pit passes will be $10 and kart registrations will be $12.

The weight changes from the previously announced standards are in order to comply with PDKA (Pennsylvania Dirt Karters Association) and World Karting Association (WKA) standards. They apply to the senior classes of karts. The new minimum weights with rider at end of the feature are Lites 325 lbs., Medium 350 lbs., Heavy 375 lbs., Extra Heavy 400 lbs. and 10 Hp Tecumseh 375 lbs.

Path Valley is proud to again be chosen as a Burris "SpecTrak" in 2003 and Burris Racing is the general karting sponsor, Promoter Ken Geesey announces.

Path Valley races 14 classes of karts and two classes of four-wheelers every Saturday with gates open at 10 a.m. In addition Path Valley has been chosen to host three of six PDKA races in the State Championship Series. PDKA will race in 2003 under joint WKA and Burris sanctions.

Path Valley kart racing includes points classes for youngsters age 8 to 15 years old in both flat and caged karts, along with the senior classes for those older. In addition, Path Valley races Kids Karts weekly for fun for those 4 to 7 years old.
