Manufacturer's Cup set for Show Hauler Trucks Nationals this weekend at New Castle

08.04.2010 - The WKA George Kugler / Bridgestone Manufacturer's Cup Series driven by Mazda opens a busy month of August for WKA this weekend at Indiana's New Castle Motorsports Park. The month features four national events - three at New Castle and all four in Indiana. The WKA Gold Cup and Speedway Pavement series also visit New Castle for an Aug. 21-23 doubleheader.

The only national not at New Castle is the Road Racing Series' Aug. 21-23 national at the Putnam Park Road Course, located about 80 miles west of the popular Mark Dismore-owned venue.

The Man Cup's Show Hauler Trucks Nationals comes approximately one month after the Zoom Zoom Grand Nationals at Road America. New Castle is the fourth of five 2010 stops with the SSE East / CRG Nationals completing the season Sept. 17-19 at New Jersey Motorsports Park.

Several close point battles will take center stage this weekend. The fourth race always marks a pivotal affair in battles for prestigious national championships, and racers will be focused on putting together their best possible weekends in order to carry momentum into the season closer at New Jersey.

In junior ranks, Ashley Rogero holds a 20-point lead over Austin Osborne in Cadet. Osborne has three final wins on the season, but Rogero has been a bit more consistent albeit she has picked up only one victory. Canadian Grant Quinlan is third, 65 points out of the lead. Californian Zane Smith is 75 markers back in fourth.

Rogero also leads Komet Sportsman by a 30-point spread over Virginia's Gresham Wagner. Rogero has two final victories in the class thus far in 2010.

In Yamaha Sportsman Lite, none of the top-four runners has a final win yet this season. Ohio driver Emerson Reed is the leader by a 40-point margin over Rogero. Brandon Jarsocrak and Tristan VanWieringen are third and fourth. Kyle Tilley has one feature win and is fifth. Smith and Quinlan have won the other two finals, but both have experienced tough luck, which has them mired in mid-pack spots in the standings.

In Yamaha Sportsman Heavy, Wagner holds a 35-point lead over Jarsocrak. Both drivers have a Sportsman Heavy final win.

Florida's Nick Neri is in the driver's seat in three of the four Yamaha and Komet Jr divisions. Neri leads Sam Beasley by 45 points in Komet Jr Lite. Neri has two wins in the class to Beasley's one.

Komet Jr Heavy shows Neri only 20 markers ahead of New Jersey's Shawn Sharkey. Beasley is only 25 points back in third.

Neri has won all three finals in Yamaha Jr Heavy and holds a comfortable 240-point lead in the class. Texas driver Austin Self is second and Sharkey third.

Yamaha Jr Lite has been Beasley's best class thus far in 2010 as the Ohio driver has won two of the three finals and maintains a 185-point lead over Sharkey. Kyle Kalish is third, 200 points out of the lead.

Wisconsin's Jacob Sekey leads two of the five TaG divisions heading into New Castle. Sekey's led the TaG class the whole way after his big win at Daytona. He's 43 points in front of Robert Bujdoso, who won the season's second race at MRP. Michael Politis is 80 points back in third, while Road America winner Tommy Andersen is fourth.

Sekey also leads TaG Heavy by 25 points over Bujdoso. Scott Ferris is third but nearly 200 points back of Sekey.

Andersen is ahead in Parilla Leopard. He leads Politis by 50 points. Luca Forgeois is the leader in Rotax by 25 points over Jackson Mears. John Dixon has won all three finals in TaG Masters and holds a big lead over Brian McEvoy.

Patrick Olsen leads Komet Lite and Komet Heavy. Olsen is 90 points ahead of Shinya Michimi in Lite and has two wins in the class. Michimi has the other. Ryan Stewart trails Olsen by just 20 points in Komet Heavy. Both drivers have one win in the class.

Stewart leads two classes of his own. The Illinois pilot is 15 points better than Michimi in Yamaha SuperCan Lite. Stewart has two wins on the season in Yamaha SuperCan Heavy and leads Tony Jump by 60 points.

Jump has won two of the three features in Yamaha Pipe which have propelled him to a 30-point lead over Kevin Nelson. Chuck Tate isn't far back in third. The North Carolina driver is 80 points back of Jump.

Nelson has a commanding 140-point advantage over John Ferris III in Yamaha Masters. Nelson has two wins in the class heading into New Castle.

New Castle gates are open Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for pit pass sales and parking. Pre-entry pickup is available from 4 till 6 p.m. Thursday.

Gates will open at 7 a.m. throughout the remainder of the weekend. A full day of practice begins at 9 a.m. Friday. Practice is slated to go off at 8:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday followed by qualifying, pre-finals and finals.
