Man Cup season closes with three taking double wins in New Jersey

09.21.2010 - WKA's George Kugler / Bridgestone Manufacturer's Cup Series driven by Mazda closed another successful season last weekend with the SSC East / CRG Nationals at Millville's New Jersey Motorsports Park.

The stars of WKA's only 2-cycle national sprint series went to battle on NJMP's F1 New Jersey 1.1-mile circuit with national championships on the line. One driver looking for a strong weekend was Florida's Nick Neri, who entered New Jersey with a chance at a Triple Crown championship.

Neri won Komet Jr Lite and Komet Jr Heavy, finishing ahead of Sam Beasley and Shawn Sharkey in both finals. The Tony Kart pilot added a second-place result to Beasley in Yamaha Jr Lite to give him three podium finishes on the weekend.

Beasley only picked up the one Yamaha Jr Lite win, but the Ohio Arrow Kart driver finished either first or second in each of the four classes he entered. Yamaha Jr Heavy was the only junior final neither Beasley nor Neri won. The win went to Ohio's Dakota Bell in that one, which marked the 2009 Gold Cup Triple Crown champion's Man Cup feature win.

New York's Michael Politis was a double TaG victor at New Jersey. Politis triumphed in TaG over Robert Bujdoso and Scott Ferris. He also won Parilla Leopard over Mark Boos. The wins were Politis's first of the season. He also became the fifth different TaG winner in five races, joining Jacob Sekey, Tommy Andersen, Scott Ferris and Robert Bujdoso as 2010 winners.

Eric Jones drove to victory in Yamaha Supercan Lite and Komet Lite. The Alabama racer won over Shinya Michimi in Supercan Lite and bested Patrick Olsen in Komet Lite. Olsen won the Heavy version of the Komet division, finishing ahead of Ryan Stewart in the 12-lapper.

Five different drivers won the five ultra-competitive Sportsman mains. Austin Osborne won his fourth Cadet final of the season with his win in Cadet Final 1. Gresham Wagner earned his second Cadet victory with his win over Grant Quinlan in Sunday's Cadet Final 2.

Tristan Van Weiringen finished top 10 in all five Sportsman mains, and the Canadian got a victory in Komet Sportsman. Van Weiringen captured the win over Mike McAndrews and Collin Campbell.

Ashley Rogero put an exclamation point on her fine 2010 season with a win in Yamaha Sportsman Lite over Quinlan and McAndrews. After two second-place finishes, Quinlan notched his only win of the weekend in Yamaha Sportsman Heavy, crossing the stripe ahead of Californian Zane Smith.

The Rotax division saw an increase in entries at New Jersey. Jay Howard picked up the victory over Andrew Sherry. Seventeen karts started the main after only a handful of racers entered the class at the past few Man Cup nationals.

Robert Bujdoso won TaG Heavy over home-state racer Scott Ferris. John Ferris III - Scott's brother - earned the victory in TaG Masters over Upstate New York driver Kim Carapellatti.

After a DNF in the Daytona opener, Tony Jump went four-for-four in Yamaha Pipe this season, culminating with his win over Adam Crepin in Saturday's main. Marc Miller won the Yamaha Masters feature over Steve Schiewer.

Cole Nelson made his first appearance on the Man Cup tour in the season's final race. Nelson made his only Man Cup show count with a win over veterans Mark Dismore Jr. and Eric Jones in Yamaha Supercan Heavy. Nelson also set fast time in the competitive senior division.

Another good field of Kid Karts was present at New Jersey. Participants were Connor and Cory Ferris, Michael Gangi, Joseph Stecher, Giovanni Bromante, Amelia Cangialosi and Paul Porreca.

Myers leads all with four wins at New Jersey Road Race 09.21.2010 - The WKA Dunlop Tire Road Racing Series driven by Mazda closed its eight-race 2010 season last weekend with the Woodbridge Kart Club-hosted Fall Nationals at New Jersey Motorsports Park, where Adam Myers was the big winner with four victories on the Thunderbolt Course.

Myers is no stranger to multi-race-win weekends in 2010, however New Jersey was a little different as the New York racer won two sprint classes and two laydown-enduro categories. Myers triumphed in PP Can Sprint 360 #2 and WKA Sprint 2 - both classes he's won in several times this year. He also picked up victories in PP Can Lite and Yamaha Sportsman Heavy - classes he rarely tries his hand at.

Myers may have his sights set on more laydown-enduro racing in 2011, but for now he can bask in the glory of a 2010 season that saw him win over 15 national features and most likely four national championships and a Triple Crown championship. Final points are not yet tallied, but it appears Myers is a lock for the prestigious award after dominating the PP Can Sprint and WKA Sprint divisions.

Don Guilbeault ended his strong latter part of 2010 with three wins at the season finale. Guilbeault triumphed in both Spec TaG features and TaG 2, meaning the New Hampshire driver won three of the four TaG sprint divisions on the weekend, not counting the Stock Leopard finals. The only one he didn't win was TaG 1, which saw Noel Farrelly drive to victory.

Four drivers won twice at NJMP. Lance Fry was victorious in both 100cc Controlled Spec mains. Fry won over Randy Fulks in Spec 1 while his father Jim finished second in Sunday's version of the class.

Scott Evans was stout in the last few nationals of 2010. The Illinois pilot continued his success at New Jersey, winning Briggs Animal 360 and Animal 385.

In the junior Briggs ranks, Hank Moore won twice over Joey Kuley. Noah Stark was the other double winner with his sweep of the WKA 125 Shifter mains.

Milo Schoonover won over Ben Eberhart in 100cc Controlled. Adam Trumbley and Justin Taylor split the 100cc Pipe mains; Trumbley won Medium and Taylor was the winner of Pipe Heavy.

A good field of B Stock racers hit Thunderbolt Course. Brian Zwart was the winner of the traditional Road Racing class over Robby Harper and Jim Farr. In other Controlled action, Dale Coffey won Formula 100 #1 while Don Chrzan was the winner of Formula 100 #2. Mike Lattos won over Stacey Anthony in Formula 125.

Chad Dokken and Mikey Wright split the CIK 125 Shifter mains. Dokken won CIK 125 Shifter 1 and Wright triumphed in Sunday's main.

Michael Ryan Arnold picked up another Jr Sprint main with his victory in Jr Sprint Lite. Arnold did not enter Sunday's Jr Sprint Heavy, which saw Derek Somers drive to victory. JC Sanders was the only entrant in Jr Enduro Lite, thus getting the win. The same was the case for Larry Bishov in PP Can Medium.

Myers dropped out in Saturday's PP Can Sprint 360 #1. His misfortune opened the door for Rhode Island veteran Louie Magiera, who captured the win over John Maesky.

Byron Rothenhoefer dominated the Stock Honda 1 main, which saw over 20 karts start. The win marked Bear's sixth of the season and he was only at three Road Racing nationals.

Clark Gaynor Jr. picked up his first national win of the season in Stock Honda 2. Rebecca Taylor and Clark Gaynor Sr. split the Stock Leopard finals. Chuck Bunnell and Tom O'Reilly did the same in the pair of Unlimited finals.

Woodbridge Kart Club regulars Scott Clark and Scott Stauffer were winners at the WKA national. Clark bested Myers in WKA Sprint 1 while Stauffer won over "Wild" Bill Holder in Yamaha Sportsman Medium.

Local-option winners included Chris Kuley, Cody Jackson, Ian Bushey, Tyler DeCuzzi, Randy Fulks, Gary Schenkel, William Anderson, Arthur McKenny, Don Colanero, Dick Cloney, L Kenneth Chew, Toni Alexander, Joe Kuley, Jerry Beasom, Robert Boyer and John Van Himbergen.
