2011 Speedway Dirt Tire Program remains as announced

11.10.2010 - While WKA is very proud to have announced Firestone as the new Speedway Dirt Road to Daytona Program sponsor, this news DOES NOT change the Speedway Dirt Tire Program that was announced last week.

As announced Nov. 4, the 2011 Tire Program, beginning with the Firestone Dirt World Championships Dec. 27-30 at Daytona Int'l Speedway, states competitors may run Burris, Hoosier, Maxxis, Vega or Firestone rubber on the right side.

The following two paragraphs are taken from last week's Tire Program Pit Board announcement / press release:

In keeping with the rule from 2010, drivers will be required to run one of these company brands specifically on the right side. Competitors may choose to run any tire on the left side, as long as they are from an approved manufacturer. Tires from the top three competitors will be charted at each event. If a driver in the top three is disqualified in post-race tech, that will not move the fourth place kart up for eligibility. The top three, no matter the outcome, will be recorded.

These rules will go into effect beginning at this December edition of the Daytona Dirt World Championships Dec 28-30.

2011 Road Racing schedule to be announced Thursday

11.10.2010 - WKA officials will release of the complete 2011 Dunlop Tire Road Racing Series driven by Mazda schedule Thursday (tomorrow).

The opening five races of the 2011 slate were released several weeks ago. With Daytona off the schedule this year, the national season will open Feb. 11-13 at Roebling Road (Ga.) Raceway, followed by nationals at Carolina Motorsports Park, Mid-Ohio, VIR and Putnam Park. The balance of the schedule will be announced tomorrow via Pit Board / Web site posting.
