WKA at Parts Peddler Trade Show this weekend

11.17.2010 - The World Karting Association will head north this weekend for its first trade show appearance of the season. For the second straight year WKA has secured exhibit space at the Parts Peddler Trade Show at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse.

The annual show runs Friday through Sunday and it features nearly every form of motorsport imaginable.

WKA officials have keyed on several advantages of exhibiting at the staple Northeast show, including promotion of the organization to upstate New York and Northeast racers and fans, advertising next season's national and divisional events in the region and simply keeping the WKA name in front of a host of noteworthy people within the racing industry.

Building on last year's inaugural appearance at the Parts Peddler, WKA will be hosting an SFI / WKA Certified Technical Inspector Program at the show. The program will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday with registration beginning at 12:30. Those attending should meet at the WKA booth when they arrive at the show. Parts Peddler officials are very proud to have WKA at the show representing kart racing. Promoter Corky Stockham says the attendance of organizations like WKA has been key to the success of the show over the last 30 years.

"Nearly every form of racing is represented at this show," Stockham says. "But we've never had great representation from karting, which we still view as the purest form of racing. Having WKA exhibiting is terrific for us and for all the folks who come to Syracuse for the event. I'd love to have more karting vendors realize what this show can do for their business. There are a lot of karters in this area and WKA is a great asset."

Joining WKA's Keith Shampine in the booth will be Coyote Motorsports' Jim Lipari, who'll haul one of his potent XP chassis from Coyote's Rochester, N.Y., base.

Show hours are Friday from noon to 10 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

PRI Trade Show on WKA's early December agenda

11.17.2010 - WKA's second trade show appearance of the season comes with the 23rd Performance Racing Industry Trade Show Dec. 9-11 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

In addition to WKA's exhibit space at the show, the season's second SFI / WKA Certified Technical Inspector Program will be held at PRI. The PRI Tech Inspector Program is 2-cycle only, and registration is Saturday at 8:30 a.m. The seminar begins at 9 a.m. and should last until about noon.

WKA's activities at the PRI Show also include a new Race Official Training course, which is an interactive training program designed to help WKA Master Track and Divisional / Regional Series officials increase safety, improve operations and grow participation.

The course will support WKA's mission to provide a safe, fair, consistent, fun and affordable environment for the beginner, hobbyist and future stars of motorsports. The FIA Motor Sports Safety Development Fund is funding the course.

Focus will be race official training, young driver development and facilities safety. Also included will be information on club, track and series management, insurance, marketing and communications.

Registration for the Race Official Training course is Saturday at 12:30 p.m. The course begins at 1 p.m. and will run no later than 5.
