David Ostella wins every F1-K race in 2006

GOODWOOD, ONTARIO -- David Ostella came into the final weekend of the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship with the F1-K championship already secured, but he still had something to race for. Ostella had the chance to be the first driver in the five year history of the championship to win every race during the season. Ostella won the F1-K final to make history.

Four other class champions were crowned on Saturday. Eric Gerrits won the Rotax Sr. Championship, Pearce Herder won Canada Senior, Anthony Furfari won the F1-K Cadet championship, Kevin Monteith won the Canada Junior Heavy Championship and Joshua Korenyi won the World Formula Junior Championship -- along with the GM Racing award on the day.

Rotax Max Senior
Pfaff Fast Qualifier; Mike Vincec

Mike Vincec went from pole to win in the prefinal. Kyle Marcelli was second until the final lap, where he was passed by Marco Di Leo. Vincec went on to win the final over Marcelli and Brad Forbes. Rotax Max Senior Champion -- Eric Gerrits

Canada Junior Heavy
Pfaff Fast Qualifier; Neelan Nadesan

Neelan Nadesan wasn't able to convert the Pfaff Fast Qualifier award into a prefinal win. The win went to Kevin Monteith and Michael Di Meo was third. In the final, Monteith won -- sealing the championship -- with Gary Klutt second and Keenan Harris third.

F1-K Cadet
Pfaff Fast Qualifier; Kenneth O'Keefe

Artem Korolev was on a charge from the drop of the green flag in the prefinal. Korolev won over Julius Makos and polesitter O'Keefe. In the final, no one was able to touch Korolev, as he won the final over Anthony Furfari -- who won the championship -- and Garrett Grist.

World Formula Junior
Pfaff Fast Qualifier; Joshua Korenyi

Josh Korenyi needed to win to claim the championship -- and he did just that. Korenyi took the pole, the prefinal win and the win in the final. Jeff May and Jesse Facchini were second and third in the prefinal, and the two swapped positions in the final.

Canada Senior
Pfaff Fast Qualifier; Chris Holman

Marco Di Leo passed pole man Holman for the win in the pre-final. Evan Hayden was third in the prefinal. In the final, Kyle Herder stormed forward to take the win over Aaron de Heus and Di Leo. Pearce Herder was fifth, and that was good enough to seal the championship.

F1-K Junior
Pfaff Fast Qualifier; David Ostella

David Ostella had another clean sweep in F1-K Junior. He won the pole, prefinal and final on his way to clean sweeping not only the day, but with the win, Ostella won every F1-K final this year. Behind Ostella in the final were Mike Lennie and Zac Mahoney.

GM Racing awards for outstanding skills went to Joshua Korenyi, who drove his way forward in World Formula Junior to claim the championship.
