Megenbier Highest Finishing North American in World RotaxMax History

LANZAROTE, Canary Islands (January 22, 2005) -- Timmy Megenbier, 2004 SKUSA Rotax Junior National Champion and RotaxMax Grand Nationals runner-up, finished 5th out of 32 entries from 40 other countries at the Rotax World Finals in Lanzarote, Canary Islands. The 5th place result was the highest finish from any North American driver in the races history. Megenbier was selected as one of six members of the U.S. RotaxMax national team to compete.

"This was one of the most incredible experiences of my life," said Megenbier, 13. "This makes me want to come to Europe even more to compete. We struggled early on but Tim Lobaugh, my tuner, really had the kart working in the final."

Megenbier started 8th in the 20-lap final event and worked his way into the top-5 with only a few laps remaining.

"Timmy represented the US team extremely well this week," said Marshall Martin, U.S. Rotax Max Challenge Race Director. "He is an amazing young driver and I have no doubt that we will see a lot more of him in the future."

The team arrived in Lanzarote, Canary Islands for registration on the 16th, before being allowed two days of practice on January 18th and 19th. Timmy Megenbier is sponsored by Megwear, Rahal Foods, Morse Caliper, Bell Helmets, Emco Gears Inc., Burke Electric, Racing Optics, Corby Concepts & MRP Motorsport.
