World Karting Championship for Daniel Morad!
Morad wins F80cc Junior shifter championship with two wins at Dousman

DOUSMAN, WI Canadian standout junior karter, Markham's Daniel Morad, brought home three impressive titles back from the USA last weekend. Morad won both coveted Grand National Eagles and the WKA (World Karting Association) 2004 F80cc Junior championship.

The final event of the four round series was held at Badger Raceway, in Dousman, WI. Target Distributing hosted the event, the George Kugler Manufacturer's Cup presented by Bridgestone Grand Nationals. This was the final event of the 4-race series that started with Daytona KartWeek the last week of December.

Morad started off strong in Friday practice, and was happy with his Maple Leaf Mortgages Birel. "So far we are pretty close," Morad said. "This is a big weekend, so to get off on a good start helps our Maple Leaf Mortgages Birel team."

Saturday was the first of two races and Morad was dominant taking the pole, prefinal win and final over Logan Gomez. "Today was really good for us," Morad said. "I like racing Logan. He is really good, and he races clean."

Sunday was the second of the double race weekend and Morad qualified second. "We were just a touch off," he said. In the prefinal, Morad lost a couple of spots on the start when he bogged off the line. He fought his way back to second. In the final, Morad waited for his kart to come in before making his move for the lead. "I set it up, and just took the lead," Morad said of the pass. Morad went on to win his second eagle of the weekend and with it the 2004 F80 cc shifter Junior championship.

"This is really a great win for our whole Maple Leaf Mortgages Birel team. My mom and dad, Paul my tuner, Raine Persson from swedetech for his incredible Engines and his help, Enzo from 3S Birel Racing and everyone else that helps us, I owe a big thank you to. The two eagles are really cool to win, and to take this championship in my final year of Junior competition is really rewarding."
