Childers scores second WKA dirt win while Weatherford and Terry break ice
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (12-29-96) -- The World Karting Association Dirt World Championships continued Sunday night at Daytona Beach Municipal Stadium with Rodney Childers of Mooresville, N.C., winning his second 20-lap main event of the weekend while Barrett Terry of Lenoir City, Tenn., and Jamie Weatherford of Darlington, S.C., broke through for their first wins of the weekend. Childers, who won the Superstock main on Saturday night, won the Stock Medium main by 1.960 seconds over Tom Knight of Terre Haute, Ind. In the Controlled Stock Heavy 20-lapper, Eddie Mishue of Clemmons, N.C., turned the tables on Ronnie Robinson of Salisbury, Md., and won the night's closest race by just .162 seconds. On opening night Robinson won the weekend's closest race by just .099 seconds in Senior Stock.
