Guelph, ON. -- March 13, 2005 -- FirstKart.com has put together another stellar team for the first round of the Stars of Karting (SoK) championship this coming weekend at the Oklahoma Motorsports Complex in Norman, OK. With drivers competing in Intercontinental C (ICC), Intercontinental A (ICA), Junior Intercontinental A (JICA), and the Spec Racer categories, First Kart will be looking to garner victories in almost every series class.
Under the First Kart.com tent will be ICC competitors Nick Maddison, defending ICC Canadian National Champion Daniel Morad, Matt Pritiko and reigning Stars of Karting 80cc Junior national champion Zach Schiff. All four of these drivers will look to run up front and fight for the opening round victory.
Recent Florida Winter Tour Rotax Junior and JICA champion Brett Smrz will be back in action as the youngster will look to add to his '06 win total. In 2005, Smrz claimed the SoK west JICA championship as this year will gun for the overall national title.
Eric Gerrits will be under the FirstKart.com tent contending in the Spec Racer division. Gerrits, who was Canada's representative in Malaysia for the Rotax Senior division, has been hot all year long scoring two victories and several podiums at the recently completed Florida Winter Tour.
First Kart Dealers Checkered Flag Racing (CFR), Ocala Gran Prix (OGP) and True North Motorsports will all be in attendance with several drivers looking to start the season off right.
Under the OGP tent will be '03 Stars of Karting ICC national champion and '04 Formula Ford Zetec champion Bobby Wilson. Wilson will team with Chris Friel as the duo will work together in the ICC class.
CFR and True North Motorsports will throw several drivers into the equation as Mitchell Egner, Beau Newhouse and Max Riddle will contend for the JICA win while Nick Fairney, Bill Lenniger, Ted Pyle and Devon Sandeen will join FirstKart.com pilot Eric Gerrits in the Spec Racer division.
2006 is going to be an exciting year for the team as First Kart North America will travel to all East and West coast events in the Stars of Karting Championship, the World Karting Association Manufactures Cup and the Florida Winter Tour.
