WKA: National Indoor Dirt Championships preview

TUNICA, MS-Jam Promotions, Inc. proudly announces that the Uni Select Network of Parts Plus Dealers sponsored 12th Annual Thanksgiving weekend National Indoor Dirt Karting Championships will be filmed and televised by Victory Film Productions. Victory Film Productions will produce six half hour long shows that will appear on the Sun Shine, New England Sports and Junior Motorsports networks said Jam Promotions President Lanier James, of Memphis, TN.

"This program will take our venue and karting as a whole to a new level of exposure," James said adding, "We've got a lot of new things happening this year."

Along with welcoming a new sponsor, Parts Plus, and television exposure race winners at the November 29-30 event will receive a replica slot machine trophy that James described as very unique. "This year's trophy will be a really neat looking deal that will make an awesome addition to any racer's trophy case. They are black and antique gold and weighs seven pounds," he described adding that sponsors with get a similar version of the trophy in recognition of their support of the event.

This year's total purse will be $28,000. Nervo Coggin Fast Qualifier awards and other contingencies will also be presented and as always, every entrant receives a memento of participation and all feature participants will get a special award for that accomplishment.

Prize drawings for radio controlled monster trucks and tool sets will be held during the driver's meeting. During pre-race driver introductions drivers will toss numbered Frisbees into the crowd and the spectator who catches the winner's disk will also receive a prize.

Racers will compete on a 300 X 150 foot banked dirt track beginning with practice each day from 8:00 to 11:00 am. An 11:15 am drivers meeting is scheduled for each day and qualifying will begin at noon followed by feature races. Twelve classes will be raced that Friday starting with Junior 1 Lite followed by; Stock Super Heavy, Junior Champ Lite, Junior 2 Lite, Limited Modified Lite, Junior 3 Lite, Yamaha Heavy, Stock Medium, Junior Sportsman Champ Lite, Star Champ, 4-Cycle Open and Senior Stock. Saturday's 11-race line up includes Heavy classes and Unlimited 2-Cycle.

The newly expanded Tunica Exposition Center features under the roof trailer parking acres of paved parking with easy in and out from the building to pit areas. The show area, which boasts excellent lighting and sound system, will comfortably seat more than 3,000 spectators. Food concessions will be open from morning to closing and there will be a number of parts dealers and other venders.

While in Tunica racers and fans can take advantage of the many activities the area has to offer. Jam Promotions will offer a FREE shuttle to the local factory outlet mall and Casinos where they can enjoy shopping visit health and beauty spas, play golf or take a helicopter ride. This year the Tunica Museum, located walking distance across the street from the Exposition Center, is open and free to the public.

As has been the tradition gates and registration will open at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 28th. Three karting seminars will be held that evening beginning with Tom Baker's 'How to Promote Yourself' beginning at 6:00 pm. At 7:00 pm WKA 4-Cycle Technical Director Ralph Helms will host a seminar on 'How to Survive Tech' which will be followed by the final seminar 'Chassis Setup for the Nationals' which will be a panel discussion chaired by top engine builder Shane James.
