NEW CHALLENGES IN 2010 IN THE WSK CHAMPIONSHIPS
2010 karting calendar by WSK Promotion is official.
The Main events are the WSK World Series, extending over three continents, and the WSK Euro Series.
WSK Master Series is the further international championship.
Finally, the completely new Nations Cup is the meeting closing the season.
2010, the start of the wsk global project. The next racing season presented by the WSK Promotion has been finalized by now. The year 2010 will cover three spheres of activities: three fields of competition, tailor-made for career karting drivers, to give them the opportunity to compete in an ever-growing international involvement.
WSK World Series. The leading series of WSK Promotion will take place all around the world, touching three continents. Already announced, with a prestigious opening round, on the Portuguese brand-new circuit in Portimao, the 2010 WSK World Series will be completed with further two events: the second is scheduled in Millville, New Jersey (USA), followed by the closing round in Sharm el Sheik, Egypt. The eligible categories are the international traditional ones, namely Super KF, KZ2, KF2 and KF3. As everybody knows by now, the WSK World Series will kick off in Europe, in conjunction with the World Touring Car Championship, on July 3rd. On the Algarve sports centre, in Portimao, the karting World Series "made in WSK" will make its debut preceding WTCC sixth event.
The opening round will take place on Saturday, on the Kartodromo Internacional do Algarve, a 1300-metre long circuit, annexed to the complex. What will follow on August 1st, is the awaited North America landing, on New Jersey Motorsport Park of Millville. That case too, it is a multipurpose complex, provided with a large motor-racing circuit (the Thunderbolt Raceway) and a karting track long 1,1 miles. The WSK World Series debut season will thus round off on African land. On the Egyptian circuit in Sharm el Sheik, the Ghibli International Raceway, 1308-metre long, it will take place the third and closing 2010 event. To open WSK activities, by a tradition already well-established over the past two years, the usual "three days" of collective tests is scheduled on La Conca circuit, in Muro Leccese, from March 1st to 3rd.
WSK Euro Series. In 2010, the European series by WSK will be run over five rounds. The continental calendar comprises the same circuits located between Italy and central-western Europe, hosting the closing International Series, this year. The latest innovation in the WSK Euro Series applies to the categories admitted. Besides Super KF, KF2 and KF3, the two shifter classes will take to the field: both KZ1 and KZ2 will run in the same races, but with different rankings.
WSK Master Series. In 2010, the WSK Master Series will be born, designed to be a first international approach for all those drivers aiming for the best karting training. The categories competing will be the "launching" classes KZ2, KF2 and KF3, adding 60 Mini. In line with its propaedeutic nature, the drivers with a licence International A won't be allowed to enter the WSK Master Series.
WSK Nations Cup. A racing season so important and well-structured couldn't be lacking in an equal top-level ending. Therefore, it has been devised the WSK Nations Cup, an international event with qualified entry: the necessary requirements for the event will be the attendance to the WSK three series, as well as the several National championships, organised by the relative ASN.
