The team has raced in three occasions since 2012, with sixth position in class and 12th overall in 2013 as its best result to date.

The team has showed immense promise in all its appearances but luck has eluded it in the races. Last year, it collided with the Greaves Motorsport car after 73 laps, ending its race.

"The test went well for us despite the tricky weather. I was fortunate to do a reasonable lap in the afternoon that put us P1, but there's certainly more performance to come," said Chandhok.

"I think we're definitely in the ballpark for a podium this year, but there's at least seven or eight teams who I'm sure would say the same.

"It's super-competitive out there," he added on its chances of a podium finish in class.

The Irish team had a good outing in the test day, finishing eighth and first in the morning and afternoon sessions.

Le Mans magic

Chandhok, the only Indian to have ever raced at Le Mans, will make his third appearance in the race with the Irish team .

"The actual Saturday and Sunday of the race is magical – you just get so much satisfaction from driving around that track," he added.

"It feels like it takes a whole month of your life and it's important to keep your mind occupied and also take the time to relax and switch off.

"A very special race indeed and I once again feel so proud to be the first, and so far, only Indian to take part in the 24 hours of Le Mans."
