Federico Leo to drive for Ram Racing at Le Mans

Ram Racing is pleased to announce that Federico Leo will be joining the team for the third round of the FIA World Endurance Championship, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Italian will be racing in the No.52 LMGTE Pro entry with Matt Griffin and Alvaro Parente.

The British team, winner of the 2013 European Le Mans Series LMGTE category, is entering two Ferrari 458 Italias in the world’s most famous endurance race. It will be the first time that Ram Racing – which was founded in the second half of 2012 – will have participated at Le Mans but not the first time that it has undertaken a twice-round-the-clock event. A number of drivers were tested earlier in the year with a view to participation at Le Mans but the line-up is now set.

Leo, 25, comes to the team with impeccable credentials as a Ferrari driver. Despite only making his debut in sportscar racing in 2010 he quickly found his feet, and really came of age when he got behind the wheel of a Ferrari 458 Italia. In 2011, his first year of competing in the championship, he became FIA GT3 Champion with AF Corse, and followed that with the 2012 Championship title in the International GT Open series. The Varese-born driver competed against Ram Racing in the ELMS last year before returning to the International GT Open for 2014, all the while in an F458.

Dan Shufflebottom, Team Principal of Ram Racing, said of the new addition to the Pro line up: “To be able to welcome someone with Federico’s Ferrari knowledge and proven race-winning ability can only be viewed as a bonus for a team such as ourselves. He comes to us highly recommended, and I’m confident that he will fit in very well with Matt and Alvaro. What we might appear to lack in Le Mans experience between us, we more than make up for in other areas and I feel sure that Federico will very much enjoy his first Le Mans with us.”
