Halliday marks Le Mans return with Eurosport International debut

Liz Halliday will be back on Eurosport screens next weekend (14/15 June) when she re-joins their television line-up for the 82nd running of the world famous Le Mans 24 Hours.

Having contested the event three times as a driver, the dual sportswoman heads to Circuit de la Sarthe for the seventh time in a media capacity, although 2014 sees Liz swap her commentary position for pit-lane reporting and on-camera roles throughout the world’s greatest motor race.

Now part of Eurosport’s International team, Liz’s sports-prototype and GT experience will be crucial as the most successful female driver in American Le Mans Series history dissects endurance racing’s toughest test for Eurosport’s legion of continental viewers.

Liz Halliday: “I can’t believe this will be my 10th time at Le Mans. I’m looking forward to presenting on the Le Mans 24 Minutes show and obviously being in the thick of the action while pit-lane reporting, where I can always spot a few familiar faces. I will really miss working with my fabulous fellow commentators on British Eurosport, but this will be an exciting change, and I am looking forward to doing more on-screen work this year.

“I think we have all the ingredients for a great race this year. It will be interesting to see how Porsche fare on their return to Le Mans alongside powerhouses Audi and Toyota. The quality of LMP2 runners makes it tricky to choose a winner, while both GT categories are looking hot. Sometimes they are forgotten in the midst of the front running heavyweights’ battles but it’s still super competitive and some of the best racing around!”

Eurosport’s extensive coverage of the Le Mans 24 Hours, which is available in High Definition, begins with Wednesday’s practice session at 18:00 local time. The race itself kicks off at 15:00 on Saturday. Check local listings for precise timings.
