Just 18 hours after the team won a coveted MIA Business Excellence Award, Team Nasamax was again represented on the rostrum on Friday 14 January 2005 when one of their 2004 drivers stepped up to receive his BRDC award for his Le Mans drive with the team.

The Woolf Barnato Trophy, for the highest placed finishing British driver in a British team at the Le Mans 24 Hours, was presented to Team Nasamax Le Mans driver Kevin McGarrity by BRDC President Sir Jackie Stewart OBE at their annual awards luncheon.

31 year old Belfast-based Kevin drove in the famous Le Mans 24 Hours race alongside Canadian Robbie Stirling and Silverstone-based South African Werner Lupberger, bringing the bio-ethanol powered Nasamax DM139 Judd V10 home to 17th place from 48 starters, 7th position in the top prototype class, despite a constant misfire which was later traced to electrical problems. This is the first time a wholly-renewably fuelled racing car has finished at the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Team Nasamax congratulate Kevin on his award. "Kevin was a great addition to the team for this gruelling endurance race," said Team Press Manager Janice Minton, "it's a huge test of a driver, yet he was instantly on the pace and fitted in easily with the other drivers and team personnel. We'd love to have him race with us again."
