Motorsport.com art director Eric Gilbert presents the photos that he actually uses as screen savers (and that he has actually shot, also). He presents those photos on his personal Facebook page and is now sharing them on Motorsport.com. Enjoy.
24 Hours of Le Mans, 2012-06-13. The wild forest.
The atmosphere in this wild forest feels like a fantasy world coming straight out of a J. R. R. Tolkien novel. Exploring this wild forest, you may encounter many beasts and odd creatures. But those won't be hobbits or giant spiders, but four-wheel carbon fiber monsters raging at you at 350 kph. Lovely company.
But this wild forest is also beautiful. When I walked there, during the Wednesday night practice for the last 24 Hours of Le Mans, my timing seems very bad: wrong side of the track, not many cars on track and crappy light. But the wild forest played its magic and against all odds, the photos turned out to capture its atmosphere, mystery and texture.
The whole experience demonstrated one thing: it is very difficult to do bad photography at Le Mans. Even with all those landmark houses now hidden behind fences and green veils, there's always something good to shoot at Le Mans.
