On Wednesday before the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year, Loic Duval suffered a terrifying airborne crash, causing extensive damage to the catch-fencing at the Porsche Curves. He lost control of the Audi seconds after going fastest through Sector One.

Three photos show lift-off and new angles of crash damage

He was unable to compete in the race as a result. There was no footage of the accident, just the aftermath. Three photographs are making the rounds today though, giving more insight into the accident. The first can be seen at the top of this article and clearly shows Duval sitting inside the wreckage, the windshield torn out.

The Audi's lift-off

The following images are quite breath-taking, showing the angle the car was going just before the violent impact. It also depicts  how the Audi became airborne to begin with.
