Christian is one of the most popular figures in the pit lane as well as one of the fastest and the diminutive Italian capped his two year World Cup career recently by taking the title with team mate David Terrien and the crack JMB Giesse Ferrari team. It was his first championship success since1993 when he took the Italian Formula Three title, beating the likes of Max Angelelli and Giancarlo Fisichella.

Widely touted as one of Italy's biggest racing hopes, Christian then embarked on a three year Formula 3000 career that saw him sometimes shaking up the well established teams with his Reynard that was run by the under financed Durango team. Despite points finishes and some superb qualifying performances, Christian turned his attentions to sportscars and in particular the Le Mans 24 Hours that he competed in for the first time in 1996 at the wheel of a Scuderia Italia Porsche GT1.

More outings in the BPR GT series followed and then in 1998 he switched to the Italian Touring Car series winning more races as he did so.A year later and he was back in sportscars with a Ferrari 333SP run by former team BMS Scuderia Italia. The combination of 'Pesca' the ex F1 team and team mate Emmanuele Moncini brought success at Enna Pergusa and the title was only lost at the final round.
