SHELL FUELS 24 HOURS OF LE MANS

The famous 24 hour endurance race held annually in Le Mans, France first started in 1923 and is widely regarded as the ultimate test of performance and endurance, setting a unique challenge for drivers, mechanics and scientists. Since 2006, Shell has been the sole fuel supplier to this legendary race to ensure all competitors have optimum power and performance from their engines whether they are petrol or diesel powered.

Not only does Shell supply all fuel to all teams; 2010 marked the official brand sponsorship deal with the Risi Competizione American Le Mans Series team. Through this agreement Shell Helix Ultra will be the exclusive motor oil used in the team's two Ferrari F430 racing cars at Le Mans. Through the Active Cleansing Technology that prevents the build-up of dirt and continuously cleans the engine, the Risi Competizione racing cars will experience optimum and consistent power delivery and reliability. Additionally the friction reducing molecules inside Shell Helix Ultra will protect the engine whilst allowing the engine to produce as much power as possible during the gruelling 24 hour stint.

Shell is a leading innovator as a result of the decades spent in motorsport, where our scientists continuously transfer the learnings from the racetrack to the road. The intense conditions put on each team in 2010's 24 Hours of Le Mans provides Shell with challenges, which requires ongoing development, this is then incorporated into the Shell products for the road.
