Tiago Monteiro overcomes adversity at Le Mans

The 2015 edition of the 24h of Le Mans saw no respite for the ByKolles drivers. Tiago Monteiro, Simon Trummer and Pierre Kaffer were quick to face problems in the CLM P1 / 01 that, as early as the second hour of the race, saw them relegated to the rear of the field. But the drivers and team never gave up on the 24 hour event and continued on until the end, a feat that was achieved at a great cost, but one that earned them third place of the private teams in the LMP1 category ranking 39th overall.

As soon as Tiago Monteiro announced his participation in the legendary race he stated that he was not concerned with the end result, just with making it to the finish line. "Despite all the problems the team never gave up and the drivers kept fighting. The team was always able to find a solution to any gremlin we had and was giving all their drivers some leeway to continue and give their best out on the track.

That was exactly what I did and in the end we got to taste the podium, third place in our category. After all what happened it turned out to be a huge satisfaction," said Tiago Monteiro, who came to Le Mans at a nice time in his career, just one week after winning another race in the WTCC, something that was complimented for by his peers at Le Mans.

After not participating in the 24 Hours of Le Mans since 2011, Tiago was very happy to be back. "It is always a unique experience to race with these very specific characteristics, I enjoyed myself a lot and every time I was in the car it felt better and I was getting better usage of the car. I have to thank Colin Kolles for his invitation and for this opportunity," added Tiago Monteiro, who will now return to the WTCC with little time to rest as the next round in Slovakia next weekend.
