For Saturday’s opening race, Bartholomew qualified fifth and enjoyed a competitive first stint, holding on to his position while keeping the front runners in close check.

Halfway through the race, he pitted to hand over the car to Ebrahim.

However, just as the Indian was exiting the pits, his Lamborghini went into safe mode due to high temperatures, reducing the top speed to just 60 km/hr.

Ebrahim lost nearly 10 seconds in this bizarre incident, but was able to recover to finish in fourth place, right on the cusp of the podium.

For the second race, it was Ebrahim’s duty to drive the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 in the first stint, which he had qualified on the front row of the grid.

While Ebrahim didn’t have an answer to the polesitter’s pace, he comfortably held onto second place.

When the pit window opened, the 28-year-old handed over the car to Bartholomew, only for the safe mode issue to reappear as the Englishman headed out of the pits.

The time lost while returning to full speed dropped the pair down in third place, a spot they held on to for the rest of the race.

It was the second podium of the season for the FFF Racing duo, who would be racing for the next time in Suzuka on the weekend of 23-25 June.

Meanwhile, up front, Clazzio Racing duo of Afiq Yazid and Kei Cozzolino took a double victory in Buriram, having also won one race in the opening round in Malaysia.
