Speedway, IN The 2002 NAMARS schedules were released this weekend at the NAMARS Championship Awards Banquet held at the Brickyard Crossing Resort and Inn on the grounds of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
NAMARS premier touring division, the Championship Midget Car Series will feature thirty events for 2002, 15 dirt shows and 15 races on pavement. Twenty-two of the 30 races schedule will award championship points.
Many "premier" events are again included on this years schedule, including the Florida Winternationals at Orlando Speedworld - Feb. 19-23, the NAMARS 500 at the Indianapolis Speedrome - May 22-23, the Pepsi / Mt. Dew Knoxville Midget Car Championship at Knoxville Raceway - June 1st, the Northern States Midget Car Classic ("NAMARS / ARDC Shoot Out") at Mercer Raceway Park - June 15, the Pavement Triple Crown at the Speedrome, Shadybowl, and Columbus Motor Speedway - July 18-20, and the 4th Annual NAMARS Indiana Five Crown Nationals at Lawrenceburg, Gas City, Bloomington, Lincoln Park, and Kokomo Speedways - August 14-18. The series will visit eighteen markets in seven states, with many races co-sanctioned with ARCA, ARDC, Badger and/or MARA.
The NAMARS Regional Midget Car Series will feature twenty four events in Ohio and Indiana. The NAMARS Kenyon Midget Car Series schedule reflects twenty two races at this time. Both series will run dirt and pavement surfaces, and are expected to announce additional 2002 event programming in the near future.
