It sure feels great to be back in the car! Our season is in full force with two races completed at the Speedrome.

Last week, our first 50-lap feature race ran a little long, with about 90 laps ran under yellow. We started in 15th position in the 24-car field and moved up to 10th by lap six. We worked our way through the pack, avoided a few spinouts and accidents, and were up to 5th position by the halfway point. With all the yellow flag laps, I got caught up in some lap traffic, which slowed me up a little. The car was running great until lap 47 when we ran out of gas! I'm not sure exactly where we finished! We never anticipated running quite that many laps! All in all, we were pleased how the car handled.

Last night, we had the third fastest qualifying lap at 12.58, and a 4th place finish in our heat race. That gave us the pole position for the 50-lap feature.

We led for 13 laps until a yellow bunched up the lap traffic and we dropped to 5th position. We had a little problem with the stagger last night. The rear end wanted to go out and I had a little trouble handling it around the corners. That didn't help our efforts of getting around the slower traffic ahead, but we finished a solid 5th.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Thursday Night Lightning 2001 - Speedrome

Every Thursday night at the Speedrome. Practice begins at 4pm, qualifying at 6pm, and racing at 7pm. Admission is $10. If the Speedrome has a sell out crowd, they will give away a $5000 that night!

NAMARS "500" - May 22-24th - Speedrome This will be the first event of its kind with the feature race Thursday, May 24th (Carburetion night) Open practice will be from Noon to 6pm on Tuesday, May 22nd.

The qualifying session runs from 10am - 2pm, Wednesday May 23rd. A two lap qualifying run will advance the top 24 cars to the feature. A semi-feature at 2:30pm will take the top 8 finishers, and the 33rd place car will be a Hoosier Performance Tire provisional.

Thursday May 24th the Midgets begin with a 5pm warm up session for the 7pm Feature Event. There will be one mandatory pit stop for each team. There is a $32,200 purse with first place taking $10,000!!

Ticket Prices: Tuesday $5, Wednesday Adults $8 teens $4, Thursday Adults $25 teens $12 Children 12 and under are always free. A 3-day ticket is available for $25

Put this one on your calendar. We would like to see a lot of you cheering the #5 car on that night!!

Night Before the 500 Race - May 26th - Indianapolis Raceway Park

The annual National USAC Midget race at Indianapolis Raceway Park will also feature the FF2000 series.

The Speedrome is located on the East side of Indianapolis on Kitley Avenue. From Washington St. and 465 head a half-mile West to Kitley. There is a large Uhaul sign and a Ralph's Muffler shop on the south side. Turn South on Kitley, over the railroad tracks and the track is on your right. 802 S. Kitley Avenue- 317-353-8206.
