Yeley's Chili Bowl Alphabet run in progress

With track maintenance under way at 5:45 p.m. following the completion of Saturday's Twin "D" Features at the 18th Annual O'Reilly Chili Bowl Midget Nationals, J.J. Yeley's advance through the Alphabet Soup of Features is well in progress.

Yeley kicked off the day by starting fourth in the second "F" Main. Yeley needed just four rounds to take command en route to the victory.

Yeley then blasted through the second "E" Main field, advancing from ninth to second in just one round. Yeley disposed of Johnny Rodriguez for the point two rounds later and raced to the checkered flag uncontested.

Yeley methodically worked the low groove during the fist half of the second 15-lap "D" Main, moving into fourth by the midway point. Yeley then slid past Kenny Brown and Scott Sawyer to advance to the upcoming second "C" Main.

Ryan Kaplan kicked off the day by winning the first "I" Main in Chili Bowl Nationals history.

Jon Stanbrough raced from sixth to win the first 10-lap "H" Main, taking the lead from Josh Ford on the eighth circuit. Dean Franklin wired the field in the second "H" Main.

Stanbrough's charge continued as he raced from 13th to take the lead from Brian Gard on the ninth lap in the first 10-lap "G" Feature, with Late Model ace Bart Hartman topping the second "G" Main.

Stanbrough continued his march, racing to second behind first "F" Main winner Rich Camfield, with Yeley leading Bryan Clauson and Hartman to the stripe in the second "F" Main.

Dale Howard raced to the checkered flag in the first 10-lap "E" Main as Stanbrough's march came to an end. Yeley beat Rodriguez to the line in the second "E" Main, with Clauson and Hartman transferring once again.

Danny Stratton slid past Luke Icke on the tenth round en route to winning the first 15-lap "D" Main. Mike Hess checked out on the field in the second "D" Main as Yeley chased in second.

Opening ceremonies get under way at approximately 6:45 p.m. with twin "C" Feature action expected to fire off at 7:15 p.m.
