Migno, 21, has spent his full-time career until now with mentor Valentino Rossi's VR46 operation, scoring his first two grand prix podiums last season and a first win this year at Mugello.

That victory stands as the only one for a KTM rider in 2017, a campaign dominated by Honda riders, the Italian lying sixth in the standings with five rounds to go.

He will continue to ride a KTM in 2018 as Aspar makes the switch to the Austrian marque in the wake of Mahindra's impending withdrawal from the championship.

"I am very happy to get this opportunity with the Aspar Team," said Migno. "I think it is a great chance for me, in a great team and with a KTM that will be at a high level.

"Everything is in place for us to be able to fight for big things. [Fellow VR46 Academy member] Pecco Bagnaia always told me good things about the team, I have faith in the Aspar Team and I am happy because this is a team that in the past has won many races and world titles.

"I am not setting objectives right now, just looking forward to putting in strong performances and running at the front. After the first races we will be able to set our targets."

Former lightweight class powerhouse Aspar has suffered a torturous campaign in the final season of its Mahindra tie-up, its best result so far having been an eighth place for Albert Arenas at Misano.

The Spanish rider lies 23rd in the points, while teammate Lorenzo Dalla Porta languishes in 31st.
