Silverstone Moto3: Canet wins red-flagged race

Aron Canet claimed victory in the Silverstone's Moto3 race, which was red-flagged on the final lap due to an incident between Juanfran Guevara and Bo Bendsneyder.

Canet's win was his third of the season and, as a result, he retook second place in the standings from Romano Fenati, who finished seventh.

The Spaniard emerged among the frontrunners during the final stages of the race, entering the last lap in the lead.

And, even though he was passed by his teammate Enea Bastianini, Jorge Martin and Gabriel Rodrigo at Turn 1, the order was reverted when the red flag came out.

The stoppage was caused by Guevara and Bendsneyder falling at Brooklands. While the Dutchman walked away, Guevara had to be attended to by doctors on the scene, and was eventually taken away in an ambulance.

Canet's Estrella Galicia teammate Bastianini took second, the Italian - last year's championship runner-up - finally taking his first podium finish of the season.

Martin, still yet to have fully healed from his earlier injuries, completed the podium.

Argentinian Rodrigo finally converted his rapid pace into a strong race result, his fourth place finish the best result of his Moto3 career.

Championship leader Joan Mir took fifth, followed by his Leopard teammate Livio Loi and Fenati.

The top 10 was completed by Andrea Migno (Sky Racing VR46), Phillipp Oettl (Schedl) and Fabio di Giannantonio (Gresini).
