Karel Abraham finished tenth despite injury
Although Karel Abraham started in the Grand Prix of Catalunya with a bruised hand and dislocated thumb, he demonstrated impressive performance and finished in tenth place.
"My start wasn’t very good," said Karel Abraham who started from the 15th position on the grid. "At least I overtook Aoyama."
On lap 3, when the Cardion AB Motoracing rider tried to overtook Randy de Puniet, he made a mistake and ran off the track.
"Fortunately, I avoid the crash by this maneuver," continued Karel Abraham. While the two other riders crashed out of the race and Karel Abraham returned to the track, three riders made a small gap which the Czech motorcycle rider reduced over the next ten laps. Then he started to fight with them for the ninth place which eventually got Loris Capirossi who defeated Karel Abraham by 0,021 seconds.
"It was a hard battle. I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to pass Loris Capirossi on the finish line, but despite that I’m satisfied with this result and another top ten finish," added Karel Abraham, who finished in tenth place, although he started with a bruised hand and dislocated thumb.
"Fortunately, this injury had not affect on my performance," concluded.
