Dovizioso "so angry" about Phillip Island after Sepang win

Andrea Dovizioso admits his poor Phillip Island result, which severely hampered his MotoGP title chances, have made him "not so happy" about his victory at Sepang.

Dovizioso collected his sixth win of the season in Malaysia, thus keeping himself in theoretical title contention heading into the season finale at Valencia in two weeks' time.

However, the Ducati rider is 21 points behind Marc Marquez, meaning the Spaniard can't finish higher than 11th if Dovizioso - who has to win - is to come away with the title.

Dovizioso said his Sepang victory means that he is "so angry" about his low-key Phillip Island race, when he finished 12 places behind race winner Marquez after an early error.

"I am so angry about Phillip Island," said Dovizioso. "I don't feel so happy today about this victory like other victories because we are strong, but if you look at the championship [we are] a little bit far.

"What happened in Phillip Island, for sure I was able to make better points if I didn't make a mistake in the second lap.

"But the Ducati wasn't there, nobody was fast, so it is the reality so if we weren't fast it means that is the reality, you can't change the reality."

On his way to 13th at Phillip Island, Dovizioso was overtaken by Dani Pedrosa and Scott Redding exiting the final corner.

Had he not lost those two additional points, Dovizioso would be 19 points adrift now, meaning a second place could potentially have been enough to beat Marquez in Valencia.

However, Dovizioso said there is no point pondering about what happened in past races.

"It is racing, everybody has to get the result for himself," Dovizioso added. "It is easy to say, 'ah in some races, in Assen I was fifth but I was able to finish third, with the speed I had'.

"In some tracks I was able to be a little bit better but to say something like that will not change the point and the championship is this, what everybody did.

"Like I said before I don't feel so happy about the victory of today because we feel strong and we don't have a lot of cards to play in the next round.

"What Marc did this season is something unbelievable like in the past, and this is the reality.

"If we couldn't make some better result, it means we couldn't be better so if Marquez wins the championship it means he was the best in the championship."
