With low track temperatures greeting the riders, the first half of the session saw very little movement on Friday's FP2 times, with the exception of Lorenzo and Ducati's Andrea Dovizioso, both riders improving their best times early on.

Consistent within the 1m33s bracket throughout the 45 minutes, Lorenzo remained on top until the final few minutes, when Andrea Iannone moved into the top spot despite his shoulder pain.

But Lorenzo wasn't to be outdone, and set a best time of 1m32.647s to close out the session after the chequered flag fell, beating Iannone by 0.371s.

Cal Crutchlow was also able to improve late on aboard the LCR Honda machine, with the British rider moving into third place with his final lap of 1m33.126s to finish ahead of Dovizioso.

Friday pacesetter Bradley Smith was also affected by the cool weather conditions and the Tech 3 rider sat in fifth, unable to better his fastest lap. It was a similar story for Marc Marquez, who despite having a new swing arm on his factory Honda had to settle for sixth position – nearly a second off Lorenzo.

Dani Pedrosa finished one place behind his teammate in seventh, while Pramac's Yonny Hernandez outpaced factory Yamaha man Valentino Rossi for eighth.

Pol Espargaro grabbed the final spot in the top 10 for the Tech 3 team to secure the last automatic Q2 berth, while his brother Aleix crashed out of the session early on with a nasty high side on his factory Suzuki machine.
