The Australian, whose test had to be postponed following a misinterpretation of the rules, was on track after the MotoGP season opener, testing on Monday and Tuesday.

Stoner worked with the 2016 Desmosedici GP, but his first day of running was hampered by the rain.

On Tuesday, however, the weather got better and the Australian managed 65 laps.

Ducati did not provide any information regarding laptimes.

"Today wasn't too bad but I'm knackered," said Stoner. "We got a lot of track time, even though the conditions weren't perfect.

"There was a bit of rain, but then it was dry for the rest of the day, and there was more than enough time for us to complete the scheduled programme."

"Finally, I got some time on the Desmosedici GP, which I found different to the GP15. I would have loved two days to test the bike thoroughly, but we are happy with what we did in the 65 laps."

Pirro set to replace Petrucci

Meanwhile, Danilo Petrucci underwent surgery in Modena, Italy after having to pull out of the Qatar Grand Prix due to injury to his hand.

Although there has been no official confirmation, Ducati test Michele Pirro looks set to replace Petrucci on the Pramac bike in the next two races in Argentina and Austin.
