Casey Stoner and the Honda Racing Corporation will continue their relationship in 2015 after agreeing on a new testing deal that will see the two time MotoGP World Champion taking part in two tests for the Japanese manufacturer with the first taking place at the Sepang International Circuit between 29th and 31st January.

I’m happy to announce that I’ve been speaking to Nakamoto san and we have come to an agreement in continuing our relationship.

The 2007 (Ducati) and 2011 (Repsol Honda) World Champion will assess the 2015 RC213V prior to the first Official IRTA pre-season test, which takes place at the same track in Malaysia the following week on 4th February. HRC has said that the second test will take place towards the end of the year with a date yet to be confirmed.

Stoner took to the 4.801km Twin Ring Motegi circuit in Japan’s northern Kanto district last November and spent time testing the 2015 Honda RC213V machine on the Bridgestone tires and tested Marquez and Pedrosa’s settings back to back. He also tried out various parts during the test including engine development and different setup and he also spent time on the 2016 Michelin tyres that will replace Bridgestone.

Nakamoto and Stoner very happy with new arrangement

HRC Vice President Shuhei Nakamoto spoke of his happiness in retaining Stoner’s services for 2015. He said, “First of all, Happy New Year! We are very happy to be able to start 2015 by announcing the continuation of our relationship with Casey and keep him in the Honda family. The feedback he gives HRC is invaluable and we are fortunate to have a test rider capable to push the RC213V to its limits.”

Stoner was also happy to have agreed a new deal and is looking forward to getting back on two wheels saying, “After having a long break from riding, it was refreshing to get back on a bike a few months ago! Now after a relaxing Christmas and New Year I’m happy to announce that I’ve been speaking to Nakamoto san and we have come to an agreement in continuing our relationship. I am currently preparing to ride in Sepang in a few weeks - which will be very different weather and humidity to Motegi - so I need to get myself fit!”
