Last year Alex Labbé had to battle eventual champion Cayden Lapcevich side by side for his first win in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series, this time around it still took a late-race pass but Labbé was able to pull away this time around.
Labbé passed Alex Tagliani on Lap 214 and remained out front the rest of the 250-lap race to win the Fast Eddie/CHOKO 250 in the first NASCAR Pinty’s Series race at the track since 2013.
Tagliani rebounded from a late-race accident in the season opener two weeks ago at CTMP to finish second with D.J. Kennington keeping his streak of top-five finishes at the track intact with a third-place showing.
L.P. Dumoulin and Kevin Lacroix completed the top five.
Andrew Ranger, who started from the pole position, was sixth, followed by J.F. Dumoulin, Jason White, Adam Martin, and Jason Hathaway completed the top-10 finishers.
Lacroix, who won the season opener two weeks ago, started the night in second and led a race-high 126 laps before Tagliani took the lead on Lap 190. Tagliani led the next 24 laps before Labbe made the pass 24.
With this second top-five finish of the season, Lacroix holds a three-point lead on Labbé in the championship standings with Ranger five point points back. Brothers L.P. Dumoulin and J.F. Dumoulin are fourth and fifth, respectively.
Rookie Armani Williams finished 11th in his first career NPS start in a race that was slowed five times by caution with six lead changes among four drivers with Lacroix leading a race-high 126 laps.
