WOW, THAT WAS CLOSE!! KENNINGTON BEATS THOMSON AT THE FINISH

BARRIE, Ont. (Sept. 13, 2010) -- It's a good thing photographers attended the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Wild Wing 300 at Barrie Speedway.

They had a photo finish.

D.J. Kennington out ran Don Thomson Jr. in a drag race off the final corner of the last lap and won the race, his fourth win of the 2010 season and his eighth career victory. The official margin of victory was just .015 of a second.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the Series, as it is for both the K&N Pro Series East and West. The same line of Goodyear Eagle racing slicks is provided for all three programs, allowing teams and drivers to race in all three divisions while secure in the knowledge that they have experience with the tires they'll use in any of the three series.

A late-race caution period bunched the field together for one last run at the victory. The race included three official lead changes but there were unofficial lead changes as well. Thomson, for example, led briefly during the final lap.

Pete Shepherd III finished third, followed by Scott Steckly and championship leader J.R. Fitzpatrick. Steckly led 179 laps. Kennington averaged 59.860 mph over the 300-lap race. Ron Beauchamp won the pole with a lap averaging 83.430 mph.

Fitzpatrick leads the standings with 1,778 points. Kennington is next with 1,757.
