Disappointing NASCAR finish for Jim Lapcevich at Barrie
Early race incident parks Fastline Monte Carlo
BARRIE, ONTARIO (September 8, 2007) -- A good starting spot in the recent NASCAR Canadian Tire Series at Barrie Speedway's ATTO 300 ended on a sour note as Team Fastline driver Jim Lapcevich finished a disappointing 20th in the 300-lap event.
Lapcevich qualified his EMCEA Transport -- Tim Hortons Fastline Motorsports Chevrolet Monte Carlo fourth in the 20-car field, but got out of shape and smacked the wall on lap 46. He was not able to continue.
"We had a great car, it was really working well, "explained Lapcevich after the race. " Early on we were running with the leaders, working our way around lapped cars but got into the marbles high on the track and put the car around."
Lapcevich had high hopes starting on the second row in race ten of the 12-race NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.
"Unfortunately, when we went around, we collected the wall and our day in the EMCEA Transport -- Tim Hortons Monte Chevrolet was finished."
D.J. Kennington won the ATTO 300 followed by Dave Whitlock in second and Don Thomson Jr. in third.
The race that 12 lead changes between six drivers and nine cautions for 67 laps.
The next event, the Atlantic Dodge Dealers 300, race eleven in the 12-race NASCAR Canadian Tire Series at Riverside Speedway on the 1/3rd-mile paved oval in Antigonish, Nova Scotia on July 20-21.
