WILEY WHITLOCK WINS AT MOSPORT

Monday August 14, 2006, Bowmanville, ON: Saturday night at Mosport Speedway, Dave Whitlock put on a show for the race fans, twice coming from outside the top ten to the front, taking the lead on lap 170 and never looking back to take his first win at the Mosport oval facility.

The #39 Whitlock Motorsports NTN-Bower/Griddly Headz/Nitrex Metal Technologies Dodge Charger was awesome this night as Dave dedicated the win to his long time friend and one of his biggest fans Wiley, who sadly passed away last weekend. "Wiley was a great friend of my entire family and I said before we went on the track that this one was going to be for him," said Whitlock after the race. "This is only our second start in this new Dodge Charger we have now named Wiley so a win second time out was awesome for all of us ."

After qualifying in tenth spot and with only thirty minutes until pre-race technical inspection, Whitlock and his team decided the car wasn't quite good enough. They went to work and made some further adjustments to the car and it turned out the changes were just what the doctor ordered. "Our car was really great on the long runs," said Whitlock, "and the last 80 were all green flag laps so that really worked in our favour."

Teammate Mark Dilley put the #9 Dodge sponsored Charger on the pole and finished in sixth place. A shuffle in the point standings has #39 Dave Whitlock moving up to fourth with teammate Dilley moving up to sixth. Teammates J.R. Fitzpatrick and Don Thomson Jr. hold down the top two spots with Kerry Micks in third.

The next event for the CASCAR Super Series is the Grand Prix of Montreal on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve where they will again be part of the Champ Car weekend in the final CASCAR road course event of the season on August 25-27th.
