KENNINGTON CAPTURES SEASON-OPENER AT DELAWARE SPEEDWAY

DELAWARE, Ontario (June 7, 2010) -- It doesn't matter where you start a stock car race, it matters where you finish. So when D.J. Kennington started up front and lost the top spot, he made the effort matter by racing back to the front and winning the Keystone Light 200 at Delaware Speedway.

Kennington held off a challenge from J.R. Fitzpatrick to win the season-opening race for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the Series, providing the same line of bias-ply tires that it supplies for NASCAR's K&N Pro Series East and West. The three series are regional touring programs that serve as development programs for drivers looking to move into the top tiers of stock car racing, as well as for drivers interested in touring on a regional basis.

Kennington led three times, including the final 41 laps of the 200-lap race, but he had to stave off a serious challenge from Fitzpatrick after a late-race caution period bunched the field together before winning.

Jeff Lapcevich finished third, followed by John Gaunt and Pete Shepherd III. There were 23 cars in the starting field.

Kennington averaged 93.652 mph on his pole-winning qualifying lap. There were 16 lead changes among eight drivers.
