STECKLY POSTS FOURTH PODIUM IN SIX RACES; STECKLY THIRD IN CANADIAN TIRE 100 IN EDMDONTON

Edmonton, AB (Saturday July 25, 2009): Scott Steckly driver of the No. 22 Racing/Canadian Tire/Tow Truck in a Box Dodge Avenger finished third in Edmonton on Saturday. This is Steckly's fourth podium finish in six events in the 2009 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.

Steckly's Dodge Avenger qualified second quickest on Friday giving him the outside front row starting position. Andrew Ranger won the pole and would go on to win the Canadian Tire 100.

At the drop of the green J. R. Fitzpatrick who started third, had the inside line following Ranger into turn one and he was able to get by Steckly who was on the outside. The strategy for Steckly then was to sit back in third and watch Ranger and Fitzpatrick battle it out and try to be in a position to capitalize should something happen. These two frontrunners, Ranger and Fitzpatrick have had many battles on the track over the last two years, so it was a good strategy for Steckly. While Fitzpatrick made several runs on Ranger during the final two laps they finished the way they ran for the major part of the 100 km race and Steckly would be a close third.

010-1.jpg "My Canadian Tire/Tow Truck in a Box Dodge was really strong today," said Steckly after the race. "We had a couple of chances to make a run on J.R. but thought better of it. I hoped they might tangle in front of me and I would get a chance to get by the for the win but it didn't happen. We're happy with the third place finish."

With the third place finish, Steckly moves his No. 22 Racing/Canadian Tire Dodge Avenger into second in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series point standings heading into the seventh event of the year at Auto Clearing Speedway in Saskatoon on Wednesday.

Behind Steckly, Trevor Siebert made a strong run from the back of the pack to finish fourth with Don Thomson Jr. finishing fifth.

Next up for the 22 Racing Team is a visit to Auto Clearing Motor Speedway in Saskatoon for NASCAR's inaugural visit to this race track on Wednesday July 29th as the teams wind up the three race Western road trip.
