Brothers Jean-François and Louis-Philippe Dumoulin, both top competitors in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series today, followed the footsteps of their heroes, the famed brothers Gilles and Jacques Villeneuve.
The exhibit will highlight their accomplishments as well as reflect their future goals and actions. Fans will also enjoy seeing a mix of items from the beginning of the brothers’ careers to today.
Alain Bellehumeur, General Manager of the Gilles-Villeneuve Museum, recently announced a major expansion plan for the museum. Part of the plan also calls for adding exhibits from various motorsport categories and famed Canadian racers.
“We are absolutely delighted to add the “Dumoulin Corner” in the delivery of our new mission,” said Bellehumeur. “The new exhibit will emphasize the family aspect of the Dumoulin saga, with brothers Jean-François and Louis-Philippe, their father Richard who started it all, their uncle Gérald who also raced in F1600 over the years, and their mother Denise Caissie, who helped her sons and husband Richard turn their passion into reality over the years.”
“Gilles was an inspiration and a model for us right from the start. We worked hard to get better, as Gilles always did. He never gave up, never entertained defeat, and always put everything he had into pulling the maximum out of the car, often beyond its potential,” said the Dumoulin brother.
In 2001 and 2014, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin - the 2014 Champion of the NASCAR Pinty's Series - twice won the Gilles-Villeneuve Trophy, which highlight the fighting spirit and on-track performance of a Quebec driver over the past season.
The race against cancer
Additionally, this will be the third year of the Dumoulin Competition’s initiative in assistance of the Québec Cancer Foundation. Spectators at every Pinty's event will be invited to sign the trunk cover of both Dumoulin cars. The two brothers are long-time supporters of the Québec Cancer Foundation.
This year’s target for the Mauricie region is to raise $500,000 to provide everyday real-life support to those fighting the disease as well to their essential caregivers.
The Dumoulin campaign will begin with the opening race of the 2018 NASCAR Pinty’s Series’ race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park near Bowmanville, Ontario during the Victoria Day Speedfest, May 18-20.
