RANGER WINS IN RETURN TO NASCAR CANADIAN TIRE SERIES
TORONTO, Alberta (July 19, 2010) -- Even Yogi Bear couldn't catch this Ranger.
Andrew Ranger, that's Mister Ranger to everyone in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, started on the pole and led every lap to grab victory in the Jumpstart 100 on the street course during the Honda Indy weekend here. The picnic basket was nowhere to be found.
Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the Canadian Tire Series, as well as for NASCAR's K&N Pro Series East and West. The tiremaker supplies the same line of tires for the Canadian program as it does for the two US circuits, allowing drivers like Ranger to race in all three series, knowing they have plenty of experience with the tire package supplied for any given event.
Ranger, a two-time Series champ in Canada, is racing in the K&N East series this season. He couldn't resist the chance to race on the 1.765-mile street course. He started up front after averaging 76.659 mph during time trials.
Jason Bowles finished second in the race, followed by D.J. Kennington, Don Thomson Jr. and Kerry Micks. There were 31 cars in the starting field and only six laps of the 36-lap event were run under caution.
Kennington now leads the standings with 690 points. J.R Fitzpatrick is second with 649.
