RANGER WINS FIFTH CANADIAN TIRE SERIES RACE OF SEASON

TROIS-RIVIERES, Quebec (Aug. 17, 2009) -- Andrew Ranger captured his fifth NASCAR Canadian Tire Series victory of 2009 when he won the GP3R 100 on the Circuit de Trois-Rivieres, the second straight year he has won the event.

Ranger's latest victory came on the 1.53-mile road course against a 29-car field that included a notable road racing ringer, former Formula One champion Jacques Villeneuve. Ranger led twice for a total of 22 laps and averaged 51.735 mph.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the Series. The line of bias-ply Eagle racing slicks that Goodyear supplies the Canadian series is also distributed to NASCAR's Camping World Series East and West.

Ranger's victory at Trois-Rivieres was a close one. Anthony Simone finished second, just .495 of a second behind the winner. D.J. Kennington, who sits second to Ranger in the championship standings, took third. Villeneuve started fifth and finished fourth and series veteran Ron Beauchamp came home fifth. Alex Tagliani, another road racing ringer, won the pole with a lap averaging 80.557 mph in time trials.

Ranger's advantage over Kennington in the title hunt is now 1,554 to 1,430.
