RANGER OVERCOMES EARLY RACE CRASH TO WIN NASCAR CANADIAN TIRE SERIES RACE

TROIS-RIVIERES, Quebec (Aug. 16, 2010) -- Andrew Ranger shrugged off an early-race crash and still won the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series race on the street course here, part of the GP3R100 racing weekend.

Ranger has won 10 times and been on the podium seven other times in 18 NASCAR road racing starts. In this season alone he has won a NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race at Infineon Raceway in California and a K&N Pro Series East race at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the Canadian Tire Series as well as the two K&N Pro Series, allowing drivers like Ranger to move between the programs easily. Goodyear supplies the same line of tires to the three series. The same combination of bias-ply Goodyear Eagles is used by the series on all road racing or street racing circuits.

Ranger was racing with championship points leader J.R. Fitzpatrick in the early going when Ranger went into a barrier at the sixth turn. But Ranger was able to work his way back through the field, passing both Fitzpatrick and Kerry Micks in the same corner to get the lead for the final time on the 29th lap. A late race caution flag bunched the field together for a two-lap sprint to the finish but Ranger stayed in front.

Kerry Micks finished second, 1.130 behind the winner. Fitzpatrick, D.J. Kennington and Jeff Lapcevich capped the top five finishers. Ranger won the pole with a lap averaging 80.655 mph.

Fitzpatrick leads the series standing with 1,339 and Micks is second with 1,338.
